Desktop Technician

Phoenix Health Systems, Inc., a nationally recognized healthcare IT outsourcing and consulting firm is currently seeking a Desktop Technician to work at our client site, East Jefferson General Hospital in the Metairie, LA metro area.
Summary:
Works under supervision, generally as the second level of service the end user will interface with. Responsible for everyday repairs, configurations of equipment, and the loading of applications. Assists in maintaining the inventory of equipment. Interfaces closely with the end user/client either face-to-face, telephonically, or via email. Performs equipment swaps at client sites to ensure client equipment is functioning properly, performs various post-repair activities, and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Customer Service – Interfaces with end user/clients regarding all equipment problems.
- Ensures client is satisfied with all levels of services provided.
- Repairs, troubleshoots, and configures routine and/or simple PC or network-related problems.
- Performs various post-repair activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must demonstrate a proven ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with all levels of hospital staff and management.
- Must have ability to troubleshoot and diagnose PC Hardware/Software problems and problems with equipment (e.g., cables, terminals, keyboards, etc.) and possess good mechanical/electrical ability.
- Able to identify source of equipment malfunctions.
- Able to lift and carry terminals, printer, and other equipment required by the position.
- Knowledge of peripheral equipment installation techniques and principles. Knowledge of basic mechanical repair principles.
- Skilled at utilizing basic hand tools.
- Skilled at questioning client to determine source of equipment malfunctions.
- Skilled at completing paperwork required by the position.
- Must follow safety guidelines for installation and repair.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Some college in computer science major highly desirable. One year of experience, working with IBM or compatible PCs, in a formal business environment. Working knowledge of Novell networks, PC related hardware/software (Windows 95/NT/2000) and PC maintenance desirable. A+ (CompTIA) Certification is preferred.
