Physician Practice Analyst

Phoenix Health Systems, Inc., a nationally recognized healthcare IT outsourcing and consulting firm is currently seeking a Physician Practice Analyst to work at our client site, East Jefferson General Hospital in the Metairie, LA metro area.
Summary:
Responsible for the analysis, design, documentation of workflow, and transformation of processes that promote implementation of projects in support of the information systems needs of the medical staff… Interacts with a physician practice support team which provides entire life-cycle of project development, including business systems analysis, prototyping applications, subsequent implementation of programs/systems, whether in-house or purchased. Works with the Coordinator/IT Project Manager of Ambulatory Electronic Health Record (A-EHR) to establish project teams and coordinates their activities, as required by project assignment. Works in conjunction with the physician practice support team leaders to promote the development, adoption and utilization of information technology by physicians in their practice as a means to improve the delivery and quality of patient care. Assists office staff with information systems’ product implementation and operational support. Prepares activity and progress reports. Provides general consulting, reporting needs, and problem solving services. Identifies needs for changes in environment to promote system use. Provides physician, nursing, and office staff training and support in the use of information technology on an ad hoc basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates, organizes, manages, and implements project plans in accordance with the strategic plan, and collaborates with and guides physicians, nurses, and office staff in identifying opportunities for improving quality and efficiency.
Communicates effectively in order to provide optimal support of all physician information systems needs and to promote a professional climate throughout the physician community.
Provides appropriate leadership to team members through delegation, consultations, support, and coordination as required by project assignments. Develops strategies for applications based on analysis and research in assigned specialty area.
Ability to formulate policies and procedures relevant to program and administrative activities of a complex, interrelated, and interdependent nature where unknown and numerous contingency factors are involved.
Understands physician needs and practice workflow. Performs workflow studies as needed. Documents areas of transformation that influences application development and improvements with regard to clinical and technical applications. Facilitates physician problem-solving. Exhibits knowledge of current medical practices office workflow, standards, delivery systems, and documentation methods and trends.
Develops, coordinates, and implements communication strategies for physician IT initiatives with the guidance of the Ambulatory – EHR project manager.
Participates in team approach to adoption and utilization of information technology products and services.
Follows established standards of system design, configuration and testing during the development process using Change Management protocols.
Assists in the development of training material for physician, nursing, and office staff related to the transformation to new information technology products and services.
Maintains application release levels and performs application product updates as needed and assures that all system changes are properly tested and documented to ensure system efficiency.
Responsible for compliance with JCAHO, HIPAA, and other state, federal and regulatory agencies that contribute to the integrity of the automated physician practice application.
Performs other duties related to Information Systems Division as assigned.
Must respond to problems, requests, and support via the Help Desk tool per Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge and experience with our primary Physician Practice Management application software is preferred.
Experience working with physicians and physician office staff, as well as a working knowledge of such workflows and device needs
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, initiative, tact, diplomacy, plus well developed interpersonal skills required for interactions with physicians, other health care team members, and contacts external to the hospital. . Able to communicate effectively both orally (in person and via telephone) as well as in writing (and email).
Must be able to think clearly and react positively under pressure/stress and appropriately escalates issues. Able to conduct meetings and use various types of audio/visual equipment for presentations and discussions. Ability to translate technical requirements and processes to staff into lay terms for training and demonstration purposes.
Proven analytical ability to follow problems through and intuitive ability to determine the origin of systems related application or integration problems. Able to design, create propose new programs with supporting documentation for presentation and approvals. Must be able to think logically and analytically and make good decisions based on good judgment.
May be called upon to work nights and weekends, depending on department activity. On-call rotation is required to assist in supporting Clinical Systems databases and application support.
May be exposed to potential infectious material throughout the organization and will be required to comply with other departmental policies in this regard when working in areas outside of Information Systems.
Must have good vision, hearing, manual dexterity, cognizance, and thought processes. Must be able to think logically and analytically and make decisions based on good judgment. Must be able to handle stress and perform several tasks simultaneously.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Clinical field, Informatics or Health care required.
Minimum of two years experience required in a clinical or physician practice setting including one year of information technology responsibility.
Previous experience implementing and supporting automated physician or clinical information systems preferred.
