Database Administrator, Data Warehouse

Phoenix Health Systems, Inc., a nationally recognized healthcare IT outsourcing and consulting firm is currently seeking a Database Administrator, Data Warehouse to work at our client site in the Metairie, LA metro area.

Summary:
The successful candidate will be the primary technical advisor for systems utilizing databases; including client server, data warehousing and web-enabled applications. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers design and development of relational data base systems.
  • Manages production relational data base systems.
  • Serves as technical resource for the department.  Provides assistance and advice to systems support staff and operations.
  • Coordinates projects through use of project management skills, tools and functions.
  • Performs routine monitoring and tuning.  Develops standards for optimal system performance.
  • Assures that all system changes are properly tested and documented following change management procedures prior to submitting to Director for review.
  • Provides ETL support for the Data Warehouse.
  • Performs database backup and recovery.
  • Technical lead for the Data Warehouse.
  • Business Objects support and administration.
  • Complies with reasonable requests to perform other duties.
  • Part of 24/7 production support on call rotation including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.

Qualifications: 

  • Must possess good organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to handle several tasks at one time. 
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills. 
  • Able to make sound decisions in emergency situations. 
  • Able to establish good working relationships with analysts and other Hospital personnel. 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, and work non-standard and extended hours when required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field is preferred. 
  • Experience with the UNIX operating system (AIX experience is desirable) and Windows server knowledge is needed. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in database administration. Specific experience with database design, creation, maintenance, and recovery required. 
  • Oracle Version 10g or higher experience preferred. 
  • Recent experience with large operational database(s) in support of reporting applications loading data from diverse sources.  
  • Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle APEX (Application Express) is required.
  • Experience with APEX development is desirable.
  • Experience with a CASE tool is desirable, as well as front-end development experience.
