Patient Financial Analyst

Phoenix Health Systems, Inc., a nationally recognized healthcare IT outsourcing and consulting firm is currently seeking a Patient Financial Analyst to work at our client site in the Cheverly, MD metro area.

Summary:
This position reports to the Manager of Financial Applications and is responsible for adding and maintaining Business Office and Financial Department systems.  The Analyst is to maintain appropriate manual and electronic records and ensure accuracy in reports, databases, spreadsheets and all documents used to support the healthcare organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supporting the Patient Financial Services/Patient Access with Siemens, RCI, Aegis, ePREMIS and all PFS software on day-to-day activities
  • Run reports for PFS/PA Department from report writers
  • Assist in the coordination of daily functions between the PFS Department and MIS as needed
  • Evaluate daily reports that are being sent from Anyque
  • Assist PFS & PA with TCE errors
  • Assist in the coordination of projects for the implementation of new systems, and major enhancements to existing financial systems.
  • Help maintain the GL system
  • Understand the HIS system and its configuration tables relating to the GL, MediClick and other financial/business office systems.
  • Provide suggestions for system improvements relating to the Business and Financial systems.
  • Assist in regular business hour, after-hour support and weekend support (dependant upon the support rotational cycle with other MIS staff).
  • Evaluate departmental use of applications, including procedural workflow processes, and assist departments in developing appropriate procedures to maximize system use.
  • Provide technical support and training to users.  Act as a liaison with system vendors, reporting all technical issues and tracking resolution of those problems.
  • Assist in the documentation and analysis of existing client procedures.
  • Documents project meeting minutes and issues.
  • Maybe required to travel between hospital facilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Be familiar with proper Patient Financial Services/Patient Access procedures, policies, practices, and responsibilities.
  • Understand the Siemens Invision Patient Accounting, Finance and sub-system software
  • Understand the basic Client’s Clinical system and sub-systems
  • Have a strong working knowledge of computer workstation/laptop operating systems
  • Have a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office tools such as:  Excel, Access db, Word, etc.
  • Be a self-starter type of individual not relying on step-by-step and day-to-day instruction from MIS or Client management for direction.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Be a team player and work well with others
  • Have the ability to analyze and trouble-shoot problems or issues.
  • Good communication and proper organizational skills

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-years Patient Financial Services/Patient Access knowledge and experience on supporting software systems with a preference on General Ledger and Patient Accounting systems
  • Accounting or Finance college degree + higher education preferred
  • Maryland hospital experience preferred
